Wade & Butcher, Celebrated Hollow Ground Razor

$175.00

As early as 1820 W&S Butcher Co. of Sheffield, England began producing cutler.  A partnership was formed with Robert Wade, an importer from N.Y. and Wade & Butcher was formed.  The company ceased production in 1959 only to began producing cutthroats again in this past year. This is a synopsis of the company's illustrious past and history.

This razor arrived in need of some TLC wearing active rust around the pivot and tang as well as along the spine. The blade was meticulously cleaned to remediate and damage caused by the rust wiping it out.  The blade was brought to a high mirror polish and has a very deep and beautiful engraving reading "Wade & Butcher, Celebrated Hollow Ground Razor".

The original scale set was cleaned and hand sanded to remove ground in dirt and any imperfections that would hurt the razor's longevity.  The floral motif on the main scale is deeply engraved and still wears some of the original gold that adorned it. Everything is buttoned up using brass pins and the original black wedge. New thrust washers were used for a nice tight and smooth pivot while opening or closing the razor.

All razors arrive on your doorstep expertly honed, sterilized and very shave ready.
