1920s, J.R. Torrey Co., Our Beauty

$140.00

Founded in 1858 the J.R. Torrey Co. razor works established in Worcester, Massachusetts manufactured razors until it's founder,Joe Torrey's death in 1963.  Joe Torrey died penniless as he believed cutthroat razors would prevail despite their decreasing popularity post WWI due to the advent of safety razor technology.

This beautiful example of J.R. Torrey Co.'s work is a modified "Our Beauty" straight razor. The razor arrived in the shop with a badly broken toe that ruined about an inch of the razor's cutting edge.  To preserve the etching the razor was shortened and ground to have a round point just as it would have from the factory and brought to a high mirror polish.

The razor's use-able cutting edge measures 1 and 7/8 inches in length with a blade width of 5/8 inches.

Scales were handcrafted in midnight blue Kirinite with a toxic green Kirinite wedge. Brass pins hold this beautiful piece of shaving history together.

This razor will arrive at your home with a very keen, shave ready edge and sterilized for your immediate shaving pleasure.

Happy shaving!
